so let’s keep this short and sweet.
is ‘factfulness’ worth the hype?
yes, absolutely. it’s an accessible and light read that teaches you about the world while also making you feel better about it.
what’s it about?
no matter how educated we are, most of us get the most basic facts about the world wrong. that’s why global health researcher hans rosling made it his mission to help people understand the world more accurately and give them the tools to get it right next time.
best feature of the book?
the way it explains and presents data. there are quiz questions, charts, graphs, pictures, and plenty of anecdotes—some fun, some genuinely inspirational.
something that didn’t quite hit the mark?
the book was first published in 2018 and has mostly aged well, with one notable exception: its discussion of a potential global pandemic. reading about the risks based on the 2014 ebola outbreak in west africa, from a post-covid perspective, made me cringe more than once.
final verdict
this is a perfect book for nonfiction beginners looking to explore the genre’s potential.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
